J. Bill Enlow retired after a successful
career as Director of Parks
and Recreation in the City of Irving, Texas. Other positions he has held
include: Parks and Recreation Area Supervisor for the City of Dallas
(1966-1969); Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Lake Jackson
(1965); and Recreation Leader and District Supervisor for the City of Dallas
(1957-1965). He received his B.S. degree in Physical Education and
Recreation from East Texas State University. His professional affiliations
included: President, American Park and Recreation Society (1979-1980);
President-Elect, American Park and Recreation Society (1978-1979); Elected to
Board of Trustees, National Recreation and Park Association (1977); Elected
Chairman, Southwest Regional Council, National Recreation and Park Association
(1975-1976); Elected to Board of Directors, American Park and Recreation Society
(1975-1977); Appointed to the Application and Review Committee of the North
Central Texas Council of Governments (1974-1976); Elected to Board of Directors,
Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute (1974-1975); Elected President,
Texas Recreation and Park Society (1972-1973); Appointed to Advisory Council of
the Department of Recreation, North Texas State University (1972-1978); Elected
to Board of Directors, Texas Recreation and Park Society (1970-1972); and
Elected to Board of Directors, Texas Amateur Athletic Association
(1970-1972). He is the recipient of Fellow Award by the members of the
Texas Recreation and Park Association (1977) and Fellow Award by the National
Recreation and Park Association, Southwest District Council (1977).
