After
nearly thirty years as a professional in the field of Parks & Recreation, Jef
Frarland has made a "minor" change in his lifestyle! He is now working full time
on his Doctorate in Education with an emphasis on Leisure, Youth, and Human
Services at the University of Northern Iowa. Jef is excited and honored to have
the opportunity to study under three outstanding mentors, Dr. Betty van der
Smissen, Dr. Chris Edginton, and Dr.Sam Lankford at UNI. He continues to teach
as an adjunct faculty member at Western Illinois University in the Recreation,
Park, and Tourism Administration Department and will begin teaching at the
University of Northern Iowa in the Leisure, Youth, and Human Services Division
in the fall. Jef holds a Masters in Public Administration from Oakland
University, a Master of Arts in Park & Recreation Administration from Central
Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Park and Recreation Resources
from Michigan State University. Jef is still dedicated to the profession of
park, recreation, and leisure services and continues to work in his community
and state to enhance parks, leisure, and recreation opportunities.
