James F. Fisher was the Executive Director of the North Jeffco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District. Previous positions he held in the field included: Director of Parks and Recreation, Aurora, CO (1967-1972); Superintendent of Parks, Littleton, CO (1966-1967); and Superintendent of Parks, Arvada, CO (1964-1966). He received his B.S. degree in Park Administration from Texas Tech University in 1961 and he is also a graduate of the Executive Development Institute from the University of Georgia (1984). Some of his professional affiliations include: Member, National Recreation and Park Association; Member, Colorado Parks and Recreation Society; Past President, Colorado Parks and Recreation Society; Member, Board of Directors, American Parks and Recreation Society; Member, National Council (NRPA) Midwest District Advisory Committee Member, Planning Committee, National Park Maintenance Institute Sponsored by NRPA; Past Chairman, Parks and Recreation Section of Colorado Municipal League; Certified Parks Administrator by CPRS; Past Member of the Board, Southwest Parks and Recreation Training Institute; Member, American Forestry Association; Elected to the NRPA Board of Trustees to represent the American Park and Recreation Society; Past Chairman of NRPA National Forum; Member, NRPA Board of Trustees Executive Committee; and Past President of the American Park and Recreation Society. He is the recipient of the Fellow Award from Colorado Park and Recreation Society (1975); Ruby Award presented by Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute (1977); Fellow Award from the Midwest District Council of NRPA (1977); Diamond Award from the Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute (1978); C-BM Award of Excellence (1978); and National Distinguished Professional Award from NRPA (1980).
