William C. Forrey is a Registered Landscape Architect in Pennsylvania with 45 years experience in the park and recreation field. He is currently serving as Project Manager, Arora and Associates, P.C., and engineering, architectural and planning consultant. Bill graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture and a Master’s Degree in Regional Planning (MRP).

He served for 32 years with the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks from 1960 to 1992. Bill was a Landscape Architect, Chief of State Park Planning, Assistant Director and Director of the Bureau of State Parks. He was the Director of State Parks from 1973 to 1992 when he supervised the operation, maintenance and development of the 114 state parts. He retired in 1992.

Bill has been active in park and recreation organizations for many years. He served in various capacities with NRPA, NSPR, NASPD, NESPD, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, PA Recreation and Park Society, PA Forestry Association, American Youth Hostels, Park and Recreation Maintenance Management School, and AAPRA.

He has been an Adjunct Professor of Recreation and Parks at The Pennsylvania State University and the York College of Pennsylvania. He has been very involved with Penn State Alumni Association serving for 18 years on the Penn State Alumni Council which included tours of duty as the Association Vice President and President.

In regard to elective office, he was elected to Camp Hill (PA) Borough Council for two four-year terms. He served as Vice President during the first four-year term and is now the President of Borough Council in his second four-year term.

Bill is a Charter member of the National Recreation & Park Association and the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration. He has been a member of the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society since 1961 and is presently an Honorary Life Member. He is also an Honorary Member of the National Association of State Park Directors.

Bill has received many awards during his career. Included in the awards are the Penn State Alumni Fellow Award, Phillip Mitchell Award for Outstanding Service at Penn State, the Cornelius Amory Pugsley Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Park and Recreation Movement at the State Level, State Park Director Emeritus Award, Outstanding State Park Director Award (1985), and the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society’s Honor Award.
