Don M. Jolley retired in 1988 after 44 years in the field. He previously served as Director of Community Services in Salina, KS. (1974-88); Superintendent of Recreation and Forestry, Pittsburg, KS (1963-1974); Superintendent of Recreation and Parks, Parsons, KS (1956-1963); and Superintendent of Recreation, Kansas City (1952-1956). Don received his B.A. degree in Sociology and his M.A. degree in Business Administration both from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He has been active in many professional organizations including: National Recreation Association; American Park and Recreation Society; Amateur Athletic Union; Kansas Recreation and Park Association; and Kansas League of Municipalities; and the National Recreation and Park Association, for which he is a past president. Recognitions and awards he has received include: Fellow, American Institute of Park Executives; Certified Professional, Kansas Recreation and Park Association and NPRA;  Distinguished Fellow, Kansas Recreation and Park Association; State Board, Kansas Special Olympics; Recipient, Sports Foundation National Gold Medal for Excellence in the Field of Park and Recreation Management; Dean, A.I.P.E. and Distinguished Professional NPRA. He is a charter member of the National Recreation and Park Association and a charter member of the Kansas Recreation and Park Hall of Fame..
