William M. Mitchell, CPRP, serves as the Executive Director, Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, Langhorne, PA. Previously he had been Director of Parks and Recreation, Howard County Recreation and Parks Department, Ellicott City, Maryland (1976-1989); Parks and Recreation Administrator, City of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation, Bethlehem, PA (1971-1976); Recreation Administrator, Cheltenham Township Parks and Recreation, Elkins Park, PA (1969-1971); Aquatic Director-Community Director, Prince George County Recreation Department, Riverdale, Maryland (1967-1969). He was a member of the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (1991-1999) - Chairman (1998-1999); Commissioner, Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (1991 to Present); Board of Directors, National Association of Counties (1990-1996); Board of Directors, National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials (1982 to Present) - President (1990-1991); Chairman, Maryland State Department of Education, State Advisory Committee for Adult and Community Service (1987-1989); Chairman, NRPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Council (1985-1986); President, Maryland Recreation and Parks Association (1982-1983). Bill has done numerous presentations at NACo and NRPA as well as a presenter at both the University of Maryland and Pennsylvania State University.
