William G. Palmer is the Director of Planning and Engineering for the East Baton Rouge Parish Recreation and Park Commission. Other positions he has held include: private practice in planning and landscape architecture (1974-1979); Instructor at the Tarrant County Junior College (1977-1979); and Landscape Architect and Superintendent Planning Division, Fort Worth Texas Park and Recreation Department (1971-1979). He received his B.L.A. from Louisiana State University in 1971. Professional affiliations include: National Recreation and Park Association (APRS Branch); Louisiana Recreation and Park Association; Louisiana Urban Forestry Council Advisory Board; National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials; Louisiana State Parks and Recreation Commission (1992-present); and Louisiana Golf Commission Task Force (2000-present). Awards received include: LRPA Fellow Award (1990); NRPA Southwest Regional Council Fellow Award (1992); and NACPRO Professional Award (1993).
