John H. Schultz is Professor Emeritus, Division of Recreation, Park and Leisure Studies at the University of Minnesota.  Previously he served as an Associate Professor and Head, Recreation and Park Administration Program, University of Wyoming (1968-1974); Instructor, Department of Recreation and Park Administration, University of Minnesota (1961-1968); Physical Director, YMCA, Michigan City (1958-1960); and Director of Community Recreation, City of Pella, IA (1958).

He received his B.S. degree in Physical Education from Valparaiso University (1958); M.S. degree in Recreation Administration from the University of Illinois (1961); and Ph.D. degree in Education with an emphasis in Recreation and Park Administration from the University of Minnesota (1968).

Professional organizations in which he was active included: National Recreation and Park Association, Wyoming Recreation and Park Association, Minnesota Recreation and Park Association, and Minnesota Community Education Association.  Some professional activities included: Member, Board of Directors, Minnesota Recreation and Park Association; Member, Technical Review Committee, Governor's Citizen's Council on Aging; Member, Ethics Committee, Society of Park and Recreation Educators (1967-68); Chairman, Constitution and By-Laws Committee, Society of Park and Recreation Educators (1968-69, 1981, 1982); Member, Board of Directors, Society of Park and Recreation Educators (1972-74); Chairman, Placement Committee, Society of Park and Recreation Educators (1974-75); President, Wyoming Recreation and Park Association (1970-72); Member, National Congress Program Committee (1973, 1974); President-Elect, Society of Park and Recreation Educators (1977-78); President, Society of Park and Recreation Educators (1978-79); Member, Board of Directors, Minnesota Recreation and Park Association (1979-80); and Editor, Minnesota Recreation and Park Association Quarterly Bulletin (1963-65).
